De Soto vs. St. Pius
by Matt O'Harver on Oct.01, 2009, under Sports Photos
Volleyball in Jefferson County has gotten very interesting. There are a few very good teams, and other teams that just show up. Tonight I was covering the De Soto vs. St. Pius game. This is two of those very good teams. De Soto undefeated this year, and St. Pius who has lost three games(all to De Soto) squared off for a showdown that would likely decide the JCC championship. De Soto came out well ahead in both games and essentially wrapped up that honor.

Tonight I covered a Festus Football game and was witness to a great one man show. Festus’ Shawn Crump was on. Scored three on the ground by himself and threw for three more. Festus easily defeated Duchesne High school 42-6.

Fox and Seckman put on one heck of a show on the court tonight Fox won the first game, Seckman came back strong and won the second, and then the Lady Warriors battled back from a 4 point deficit to come from behind and win the final match in dramatic fashion and take the win.

Today I was on the softball fields, expecting all afternoon for the rains that had pounded the area the night before to come back again. Fortunately they stayed away and they got all the innings in. Well all of them that Hillsboro needed to put away Festus. Hillsboro won 13-4 and kept up their fantastic season.

Back from Vacation

After a week off, I was greeted with a night under the lights on the football field. And what a night it was, I was fortunate enough to witness one of the best games of the year bar none. De Soto visited Seckman with both teams looking to add another W in the won-loss column. De Soto took an early lead and Seckman battled back to tie the game and send it into overtime, where De Soto was able to stop Seckman on their drive in the first overtime, and the Jay Algiere De Soto’s QB scrambled to his right and made it into the end zone to win the game.

Seckman vs. Windsor Soccer

Tonight the Seckman Jaguars visited the Festus Tigers for some High School soccer action. Seckman was able to get the scoring going early and really didn’t stop. Finishing off the tigers for a 7-0 win. I don’t shoot much soccer and I’m always surprised at just how physical the game came be at times.

Football season is here!
by Matt O'Harver on Aug.29, 2009, under Sports Photos
The Jefferson County teams kicked off the Football season tonight in the midst of some pesky rain/mist showers. Making it a bit interesting to cover the games. Fortunately I was at Hillsboro which is one of the finer facilities in the county, with an Astroturf surface which kept me from walking in mud all night. Hillsboro and Seckman are both coming off difficult seasons last year, with both teams looking to put some W’s in the win Column. Tonight was Seckman’s turn to put up the W, defeating the Hawks 43-6.
